When our energy is low and the untamed lips of our adversaries circle us round, clove, with its spicy sweetness, rallies our zeal and the fire of the angelic realms to mobilize us into action, render us invisible, and return malignant energies to their source. Ruled by the Archangel Raphael, whose name means “God has healed,” Raphael is the angel of compassion positioned in the South as the third of four Archangels surrounding the throne of God (standing at the rear side). Credited with healing the Biblical patriarch Abraham from a late-life circumcision at age 99, Raphael is ruler of the Second Heaven and a prince in four of the nine angelic orders. Stationed at the Sun’s face as the controller of Mercury, Raphael rules communication, the tongue and specifically speech, making clove a potent stopper of gossip, circumciser of the heart and useful tool in combatting Mercury Retrograde. The zodiac sign primarily associated with clove is the conversational Gemini, at heart socially expressive, naturally chatty. Among the animal totems that synchronize with clove are the fox, jackal and robin, totems of instinctive action and guidance from darkness into light (jackal), crafty retribution and invisibility (fox) and unrelenting motivation (robin). Attuning with clove are its stones carnelian and fire opal, known for promoting inner power and action, their ability to expand creative and artistic aptitude, and for heightening physical vitality and life force. Long popularized as an ingredient in folk medicine, holy perfumes, and as a common element in magickal folklore, clove clears directed hostility by exorcising negativity, restores the relationship between Heaven and Earth, sacredly seals, and is a bastion in the celestial treatment of chronic fatigue, low-energy depression, diseases of the mouth and tongue (physical and spiritual) and sleep-related issues (when caused by attached energies from the day). Clove naturally combats procrastination by magically stimulating motivation to impel action. It provides artistic inspiration and the energy to complete creative projects, is particularly potent in protecting energy workers and psychics from stray energies encountered during sessions, and in bringing immediate invisibility when desiring to go off the radar, leaving not even the trace of a scent. Concluding the narrative of one epoch and inaugurating the next, clove reverses time to reclaim, and even change, the past and future.
